Yep, I can run again--exhilerating !
I think all the swimming must have bolstered my regression, cuz I ran like six miles today.
Granted, only four of those were run continuously, but, I ran at a 7.6 mph speed throughout and without complaint.
I was thinking though, I had intended to run the full six at that speed, which would have turned out to be about a 48 minute run, but I ran just over four miles in 37 minutes . . . and, were I to kick it up a notch next run and do the full six, I would have improved my running endurance time by 11 minutes (and I can run a mile in about 8 minutes continuously).
Now, say I did that each week until the marathon ( 12 weeks . . . or, 118 days ), that's 121 minutes on top of my already 37 minutes--which is 158 minutes, or 2 hours and 38 minutes . . . I'd only be ( 26.2 mi X 8 min per mi = 209.6 min ) 1 hour and 30 minutes short of endurance to complete my marathon. Interesting.
Really, I guess what I need to do is be able to run 3 hours and 30 minutes at 7.6 mph--which would mean improving my running endurance time an avg of 15 minutes a week. Agh, that's like two miles . . . a week.
Maybe I can just compensate with swimming or something . . .two miles, I'm gonna have to consult my trainer. That's rough.
