24 hr fitness

I've decided no more Las Vegas Athletic Club.

We had a falling out and frankly, I'm just not impressed with them or their services.

So I went ahead and took the opportunity to use the 24 hour fitness free trial I received from the LV marathon. It's perfect, they have a location near where I live, it has a full gym, treadmills, pool, spa, steam room, and sauna -- that's perfect !

By the end of my first workout, I felt satisfied with what they had to offer and I signed up with the very charismatic membership sales extrordinaire -- Heather Vincent.

Pretty cool set up too, pay up front for the first 4 years and then to renew it's under $100 per year.

But wait, that's not all !

Included comes a hot babe nutritionist slash trainer . .. AND a health bar supplement kit that can be called nothing short of yummy.

If that sounds like your spot of tea and you're looking to jump on the bandwagon -- give a jingle to:

My sis talked me into it . .. it's right next door and I've been meaning to visit anyhow.

Oh, I got her to do it too . .. along with my Mom. Tck ;o)

We're just walking it though, and only the half marathon. Baby steps.

I guess there's going to be 60 live bands along the course . .. and an amazing 40 cheer squads, wow. Didn't know there'd be quite so many.

Race day is Sunday January 15th of 2006 at 8:30am. We'll see you there !

5:48

I finished the marathon -- 26.2 miles

only took me 5 hours and 48 minutes. ..which is good, seeing as how the cut off time was 6 hrs.

Which means, I made it with time to spare. They gave me a bitchin' medal too !

I'll post a picture here too
in place of this here text. ..
soon as I get my digital camera
to cooperate.
Once they put it around my neck, I really had no intention of taking it off . .. so I wore it over to the Claim Jumper to get me a replenishing size serving of . .. whatever. No one made question about it, even with the John Wayne lookin' demeanor I had going for me as I staggered from here to there.
My goal for next time -- beat my time from this marathon . .. I feel that's reasonable in terms of goal-setting. Besides finishing the marathon, the only thing better is getting to check another goal of the list of life experiences I just can't miss.

Marathon tomorrow

Just contemplating tomorrow's marathon.

Committing to an event like this can really teach you some things about yourself.

I'm realizing now what I signed up for -- and how it's not just another thing to get out of the way, but a true experience.

I haven't considered until now just what an experience this is and I wish I had looked at the preparation as part of the overall achievement/success/experience.

It's the discipline that's required/involved to be ready that makes you become more than you are, the completion is just that wonderfully tangible reward for your diligence and good effort put forth.

Hope everyone's thanksgiving was spent with love and laughter.

Mine was a varitable floatila of flavor.

That set me back a bit . ..but I do say it was well worth it.
